Beatriz and her Chocolates…

Beatriz is Argentinean and a native of Bariloche, one of the most important cities of Patagonia. Renowned as the “Switzerland of Argentina”, Bariloche has a strong tradition in the production of hand made chocolates, a custom which began after the arrival of Swiss immigrants at the beginning of the twentieth century.
With this heritage Beatriz moved to Portugal during the 1990’s and, fascinated by the natural beauty of the Alentejo, she relocated to the South West Coast in 2001.
Before long she began to look for a creative outlet which would not only provide a living but fill a gap in the market. With this aim in mind Beatriz began exploring the origins of chocolate, chocolate making and dreamed of opening her own artisanal chocolaterie in the beautiful village of Odemira.
Beatriz began experimenting in her kitchen with a small saucepan and a lot of patience. Her friends were invaluable testing the chocolates as they came out of the kitchen, providing ideas and suggestions and most importantly letting Beatriz know if she was on the right road.
Five years later, Beatriz continues to experiment with new flavors and new combinations, always trying to listen to the ideas of clients and friends...
